Moving around Kiev in quarantine

Moving around Kiev in quarantine

With the advent of the pandemic, our lives have changed dramatically, most people are faced not only with the consequences of the virus, but also with problems getting around the city. The rapid increase in the number of infected people is forcing the government to take drastic measures. With an extreme by lockdown a restriction on public transport was introduced, which led to trouble for a large number of people. As a result, people can't get to work properly and on time, visit elderly relatives, buy some things or food, and so on. This raises the question: how to solve the problem of moving around the capital, while feeling safe from the virus?

Moving around Kiev in quarantine: Possible options

  • Public transport - not a safe way to get around, such as trolleybuses, minibuses, buses and subways where there are always large crowds, especially during rush hour. Often people do not adhere to the rules of distance and means of protection – all this poses a threat to health. Also important is the fact that during a lockdown, public transport is likely to stop working.
  • Own car - allows you to safely live through all the restrictions that are aimed at combating the spread of the virus. In your own car, you can drive around the city absolutely calmly and not have any contact with other people. In lockdown conditions, this is an ideal means of transportation, but what to do if your family does not have a car or it temporarily does not work, and things need to be resolved?
  • Taxi – It's a good option to get to the right place if it's a one-time trip. Taxis are safer than public transport, but the price is many times higher than that of the same bus or metro. On a normal day, a standard trip from point A to point B will cost approximately 70-85 hryvnias, and on holidays or weekends the amount is usually higher. Also, during the lockdown, taxi prices soar to the clouds, there were cases when a person called a taxi for a short distance, paid almost 750 hryvnia. Therefore, if you need to visit several places in one day, be prepared to pay a significant amount.
  • Car rental services – If you think about renting a car, it may initially show you that it is very difficult and expensive, but in reality, it is not. After analyzing all the amenities, many residents of the capital appreciated this type of movement and the number of car rental customers is growing every day. Car rental has long been a common practice for many Ukrainians. At the moment, during the lockdown period, this is the most popular option for traveling after your own car.
Why is this type of transport so popular?

    • Safety - After renting a car, you get a clean car, which after processing will be only you and your loved ones.
    • Mobility - A rented car can be safely compared with your own private car. You can rent a car for the required number of days and use it when you need it.
    • Availability – You can choose a car for every taste and budget. In our company " Luxrental” you can find cars ranging from economy class to business class.

Of the considered options for moving around Kiev in quarantine, the safest is to use your own car or a rented car. These modes of transportation allow you to avoid contact with other people and provide a high level of safety. Public transport and taxis can also be used, but they pose a higher risk of contracting the virus. Each person should independently make a decision about which mode of transport to use, based on their needs and capabilities.
